Mokirim u'Matzdi'im

A special event was held in honor of the Yeshiva on 7 Adar II in the Heichal HaTarbut in Tel Aviv. The evening paid tribute to the 31 talmidim of Kerem B’Yavneh who lost their lives in defense of Medinat Yisrael and as victims of terror. Special mention was also made of Yehuda Katz, who is still Missing in Action. The evening marked the launch of the Chachmei Lev scholarship fund in memory of the fallen soldiers. Speakers included Rosh HaYeshiva Rav Greenberg shlita, the Chief Rabbi of the IDF, and representatives of the families of the fallen soldiers, along with video messages from the President of Israel and the Minister of Defense.

The event was headlined by Ohad Moskovitz, himself an alumnus of the yeshiva, as well as Chief Cantor of the IDF Shai Abramson, violinist Daniel Ahaviel, Israeli singer Itzik Dadia, and child star Uzia Zadok.

One of our talmidim, Yehuda Sobel, wrote the following about the event:

This evening gave us, the talmidim, a chance to truly understand how privileged we are to be part of a yeshiva that is world famous and whose graduates have spread their influence all over the world – and also reminded us never to forget the ultimate price that too many of our talmidim have had to pay. We were inspired by the stories we heard to carry on the enormous legacy of the past 63 years of Torah in Yavneh.

Thank you KBY for an event that we will never forget. We hope that in the years to come, we will make you just as proud as you are of the graduates who came before us.
