Michael Yitzchak Malik

Born on the 22nd of Tishrei, 5711, in Rechovot, a graduate of Yeshivat Hayishuv Hachadash.
Fell in the Yom Kippur War on the 11th of Tishrei, 5734

During the confusion of the battle right after Yom Kippur, he arrived at the base and started arming a tank. Only afterwards did he join his original team. A friend from his team tells: "Yitzchak armored the whole line of tanks himself. Although he wasn't especially strong, he worked and organized everything without showing any fatigue. Afterwards we drove up to the Heights and entered the battle at Nafach. Suddenly we saw the silhouette of a tank. The first to identify it as Syrian was Yitzchak. Since Commander Getman, h'yd, was short sighted, Yitzchak had to aim the cannon himself at the Syrian tank. We shot and hit it. Later, we received orders to enter the Nafach base. Suddenly, we discovered eight Syrian tanks sliding down the slope towards us, and we signaled to the commander to lower himself into the waiting position. Only Seconds after that, a second shell hit the loader-signalman compartment, and Yitzchak was killed by that hit.

May His Memory Be Blessed
