Overseas Shlichut

Heading the Shalhevet High School in Los Angeles is Chanina Rabinowitz, assisted by teachers Ofer Sabo, Zvi Kafka and Daniel Buzaglo.

Norman Amsel as Hillel Director in the former USSR divided his time between Israel and his new commitments.

Dr. Yakov Applebaum visits Kerem B'Yavneh every Wednesday in order to spend time learning with his sons, Yitzchak and Natan. Joining this beautiful custom since his recent Aliyah is Johnny Hellman whose chevruta is second-year talmid, Eliezer. Rabbi Anshel Rosby, as well, comes Sunday afternoon to learn with his son, Tzvi.

David Meyer has been promoted to Acting Deputy Head of Informal Education at the Hasmonean Grammar School for Boys in London.

Bernard and Miriam Hochstein were presented with the coveted Sarei Hameah Award by the RCA Educational Center in Israel.

All seven Kollel avreichim who were tested on a difficult Choshen Mishpat Dayanut examination by the Chief Rabbinate passed with flying colors - the only Kollel to achieve 100% success.

Avi Roth heads the "Empowered Learning" project in New Rochelle.

Yeshayahu (Sheike) Schapiro, former pincipal of the Alon Shevut regional school, has been promoted to Educational Supervisor of Schools.

Mordechai Vardi was appointed as Rav of Rosh Zurin in Gush Etzion.

Under the guidance of Kollel avreich Shai Walter, Israel's first Jewish Astronomical Institute was established at Kerem B'Yavneh. Studies are conducted on Kidush Hachodesh and the Leap Year. Participants hail from all over the country.

Four additional KBY Kollel students received their certification of eligibility to be appointed as Dayanim (Rabbinical judges): Yisrael Glickman, Nachshon Rubenstein, Zvi Sarfaty and Ehud Shapiro.

Natan Nachmani was appointed as Judge of the Tel Aviv Family Court.

Zvi Sobolofsky recently assumed position as Rabbi of Kehilat Adat Yeshurun in Paramus, New Jersey.

Gideon Shloush, following family tradition, serves as Assistant Rabbi of the 142-year-old Murray Hill Synagogue.

Chaim Tubi was promoted to Judge of the Tel Aviv Hashalom Court.

The Long Island Railroad is a most unusual site for a Hadran. However, for Pesach Lerner it is most natural. He leads a daily Daf Yomi group on their trip from the Five Towns to Manhattan to his office as National Director of Young Israel.

Chaim Pisam has been promoted to Deputy Regional Judge for the Haifa area.

Shlomo Gemara reassumed the position of Rosh Yeshivat Bnei Akiva Ohr Chaim in Toronto.

Sonny Bauenfreund was named as Chairman of Governors at Hasmonean High School in London. .

David Frei resigned from his London law practice to assume the position of Registrar of the London Bet Din.
