10th Yahrzeit of Maran Rosh Hayeshiva zt"l

Message by Rosh Hayeshiva Rav Mordechai Greenberg shlita

(For translation - see below)

"Great honor was bestowed by G-d upon [Aharon] at his death more than during his lifetime." (Sifra Parshat Tzav)

Ten years have gone by since the passing of our revered teacher and leader zt"l. It seems that as the years pass, we feel his loss more and more; we appreciate his efforts more; and we feel a greater need to express gratitude for his important contribution in building the national-religious community and in building the individual personality of each one of us.

The Yeshiva's administration, in cooperation with alumni representatives throughout Israel and the world over, decided to commemorate this tenth anniversary in a unique manner. You, Yeshiva alumni, are invited to come and take part in the various events, and thereby each one will be able to express the sense of gratitude towards the Yeshiva and its founder.

On Tues., 6 Adar I, a day full of Torah will be held at the Yeshiva, and the major memorial assembly will be held that evening, 7 Adar. Alumni of the Yeshiva will give the shiurim that afternoon. Memories will be shared, and a multimedia presentation will be screened about Maran Rosh Hayeshiva zt"l. (For program in PDF format, click here.)

Local memorial assemblies are being planned, as well, in Yerushalayim and the Greater Tel-Aviv area. Similar memorial events are planned in London, Teaneck, and other places. Rabbi Mordechai Willig shlita will give a shiur at Yeshiva University in commemoration of the yahrzeit.

We intend to produce a memorial CD for our alumni that will be a combination of photos and divrei Torah. To this end, we turn to our alumni to send us photos, tapes and other memorabilia that you have. (We will return them after copying.)

We suggest to all of our alumni, wherever they may be, to learn and to teach the Torah of the Rosh Hayeshiva zt"l, each one in his place, community and family, towards the tenth yahrzeit. These words of Torah will serve l'ilui nishmato, and his merit will serve to protect us.

With blessings of Torah,

Rav Mordechai Greenberg

Rosh Hayeshiva
