The poskim rule that talmidim who are here for the year should begin saying it already, whereas one who comes for a brief visit should mention the request in Shema Koleinu. Thank G-d, Israel has already been blessed with significant rain a number of times this season.

The Dinner, which was held in the succah of the Ramada Renaissance, was attended by over 500 guests, a record attendance. (The Yeshiva also enjoys this year a record total attendance of almost 500 students and avreichim, amongst them 130 overseas students.) The speakers mentioned the tremendous efforts of Mr. Klein in developing the Yeshiva and his indispensable "behind the scenes" involvement in the strengthening the Torah of Kerem B'Yavenh. Regarding his expected move to Rechovot, Mr. Klein noted, "It is possible to take me out of the Yeshiva, but not to take Kerem B'Yavneh out of me." Rav Ari Katz has been appointed as the new Director.
The Dinner also highlighted Kerem B'Yavneh's involvement in the community, in spreading Torah to both religious and non-religious audiences. Rav Ofer Unger, KBY alumnus, received the Community Service Award, in recognition of his pioneering work in this regard, as school rabbi in nearby Kevutzat Yavneh elementary School, and in leading a Torah discussion group for the non-religious population of nearby community of Aseret. Rav Ofer recently left the Kollel to take a position as Ram in Sha'alvim High School. Mention was also made of the talmidim soldiers, all of who returned safely from the recent war in Lebanon, thank G-d.
Simchat Beit Hasho'eva: The Yeshiva again held its annual Simchat Beit Hasho'eva at Tel Hashomer Hospital, in conjunction with the IDF Rabbinate. The choir of the IDF Rabbinate performed for the patients and their families in the large lobby of the Rebab unit. A succah was set up outside the lobby, and food (including home-baked cakes by the Yeshiva families) and drink were provided by the Yeshiva. Buses were arranged for the talmidim from Yerushalayim, Haifa, and Be'er Sheva. The occasion was filled with great ruach, and served as a tremendous Kiddush Hashem.
