Worldwide Tehillim Campaign

In light of the current security situation in Israel, a number of alumni have expressed a desire to participate in a worldwide Tehillim campaign. We are happy to coordinate this effort, and look forward to your involvement.

Here's how it works. Tehillim contains 150 chapters, which are divided into 30 units -- one for each day of the Hebrew month. (This division appears in almost all Tehillim books, most Siddurim, and some Tanachs.) Each unit contains on average five chapters a day, although the exact number varies depending on the size of the chapters. By saying one unit a day, each person completes the entire Tehillim over the course of the month. (In months consisting of only 29 days, two units are said on the last day of the month.) It usually takes 5-10 minutes to recite the daily unit.

In addition, by staggering the starting points of the participants, it is possible to complete the entire Sefer each day for every 30 participants. For more information, see below. To participate, click on "sign-on," and send an e-mail with your name (and city/country). You will receive a starting point and a list of which unit to say on each day of the month. (Below is a list of the units, for your easy reference.)

  • Here is how the staggering works:

  • Person #1 begins on Rosh Chodesh with the 1st unit, and continues on the second day with the 2nd unit;
  • Person #2 begins on Rosh Chodesh with the 2nd unit, and continues on the second day with the 3rd unit;
  • Person #29 begins on Rosh Chodesh with the 29th unit, and continues on second day with the 30th unit;
  • Person #30 begins on Rosh Chodesh with the 30th unit, and continues on second day with the 1st unit.
  • With 60 participants we can complete the entire Tehillim twice a day, and with 300 -- TEN times a day!
