Rav Yosef Kritz
Rav Yosef Kritz was born in New York and grew up in New Jersey. He received semicha from Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary (RIETS), and earned an M.A. in educational administration from Columbia University. He learned for nine years in Lakewood Yeshiva, where he studied under and attended to the Mashgiach Ruchani, Rav Nosson Meir Wachtfogel, zt"l, from whom he received the tradition of the baalei mussar of Kelem. During those years he gave weekly shiurim on hashkafic topics to members of a nearby community. He came on Aliya in 1993, and settled in Har Nof, Yerushalayim.
Rav Kritz has been serving in Kerem B'Yanveh as the mashgiach ruchani for overseas students since 1995. He gives a weekly mussar sicha in which he provides a derech in Jewish hashkafa and penimiut haTorah, covering topics such as Talmud Torah, chesed and Tefilla. He also sets aside time to learn mussar and hashkafa with individual students and with small groups (vaadim). A very warm person, Rav Kritz speaks with talmidim about personal and religious issues, is an attentive listener, and provides balanced advice suited to the students' personal circumstances.
