Rav Rosner and Rav Lapian Join KBY

Yeshivat Kerem B’Yavneh is proud to announce two new additions to our overseas program. Rabbi Shalom Rosner has been appointed as a Ram and Rabbi Yehuda Lapian has been appointed as the Menahel of the overseas program.

These appointments mark another highlight of an exciting time at Kerem B’Yavneh, as they join our
recently inaugurated Roshei Yeshiva, HaRav Aharon Friedman and HaRav Gavriel Saraf

HaRav Mordechai Greenberg has been named Nasi HaYeshiva after serving for 23 years as Rosh Yeshiva, following in the footsteps of his Rebbe, the founding Rosh Yeshiva, HaRav Chaim Yaakov Goldvicht zt”l.

Rabbi Shalom Rosner
A graduate of Yeshiva University, Rabbi Rosner earned a BA in Economics and a Masters in Jewish Education and Administration from Azrieli. A Musmach of RIETS, Rav Rosner was a member of the Beren Kollel Elyon and a Kupietsky Kodshim Fellow.

Rabbi Rosner invested two full years in Israel after high school, learning in Yeshivat Shaalvim. Until his Aliyah in August 2008, Rav Rosner was a popular Maggid Shiur at Yeshiva University's Stone Beis Medrash Program and the Rabbi of Congregation Bais Ephraim Yitzchok – the "Island Shul" – for six years.  During the summers, he is Camp Rabbi and Educational Director at Camp Kaylie. Rav Rosner is married to Dr. Rabanit Tamar Rosner, a pediatrician, and has 7 children.  Rav Rosner's popular Daf Yomi, Parshat HaShavua, Nach and Sefer Hamitzvot Shiurim are broadcast online and followed by thousands of global Talmidim at www.OU.org.

Rabbi Rosner has already started contributing to this year’s programming, giving Shiurim at the Yeshiva two times a week, heading a new Thursday-night  Mishmar program for our overseas Talmidim which kicked off this week and will be spending many Shabbatot on campus with his family. Rabbi Rosner will begin serving as full-time Ram at KBY in Elul 5778, joining our esteemed and seasoned staff of Ramim.

Rabbi Yehuda Lapian
Rabbi Yehuda Lapian spent 11 years learning at Kerem B’Yavneh in its Hesder and Kollel programs, served in active duty as a tank driver in the IDF and received a degree in education from Moreshet Yaakov. A great-grandson of the famed Mashgiach Rabbi Elyah Lapian, Rav Yehuda was born in Israel to parents who themselves were Olim from the UK and the USA. After receiving Semicha from the Chief Rabbinate in Israel, he served as the Rosh Kollel of Kollel Torah Mitzion in Greater Washington from 2006 through 2010.  During this time, Rav Yehuda built very strong relationships with the members of the community that continued even after he returned with his family to Israel in 2011.  Since his return to Israel, Rav Yehuda taught in the Yeshiva of Ramat Gan's High School, where he was loved for his warmth and dedication to his students. We are honored that Rav Yehuda is returning to KBY in an official capacity to become the Menahel of the overseas program, joining the experienced administrative team of Rav Mendel Blachman, Menahel Chinuchi; Rav David Zahtz, Program Director; and Rav Zvi Davidson, Mashgiach.

The overseas program at Kerem B’Yavneh continues to produce Torah scholars and learned community leaders in Israel and in Kehillot worldwide.  It has, for over the past six decades, embraced and enriched students from around the world since its earliest days as the original Hesder Yeshiva. The current 5777-5778 cohort of Talmidim learning at KBY come from four continents and six countries, representing 25 of the finest Yeshiva High Schools from around the world.
