Shana Tova Letter From the Roshei Yeshiva

Elul 5778

Dear Alumni and Friends of Yeshivat Kerem B’Yavneh,
A new year of Torah study has begun at the yeshiva. This year, 100 new students have joined us – 55 Israeli students and 45 students from overseas.
The fact that the new year of learning begins on Rosh Chodesh Elul reflects the fact that Torah study is essentially connected to our return to Hashem. Just as Moshe Rabbeinu returned to Har Sinai on Rosh Chodesh Elul in order to receive the second set of luchot, Torah students return to their own Har Sinai on Rosh Chodesh Elul. They return to this “Har Sinai” in order to be able to engrave that same Torah on their hearts and to continue to transmit it to future generations.
Yeshivat Kerem B’Yavneh is an institution that leaves its imprint on the personalities of all those who pass through it. We have established as our primary goal to transform our students into bnei Torah for whom fulfilling Hashem’s will and Torah study are the center of their lives.
Torah study at Kerem B’Yavneh is characterized by both in-depth study of the gemara, on the one hand, and acquisition of a wide breadth of knowledge, on the other. The emphasis in-depth study and excellence in learning is one part of the yeshiva’s educational mission, with its focus on building the spiritual personalities and character of our students.
The personal growth of our students is built on the foundation of a deep spiritual and practical awareness of the remarkable process of redemption in which Am Yisrael finds itself. This is Torah that is inherently connected to life in this world – to the spiritual perspective on the nation’s life in its country, as well to military service and our responsibility to strengthen the nation’s possession of the land.
The education of our students is a tremendous responsibility, and the staff of the yeshiva views it as a great privilege. We take this opportunity to than all of the Rabbanim and the administrative staff, who go beyond the call of duty in order to enhance the success of the yeshiva.
The deep partnership between the yeshiva and its alumni and friends is one of the critical foundations of the yeshiva. Due to your support, we have the ability and strength to continue to teach Torah to the next generation. We invite each and every one of you to come visit the yeshiva and to once again have a taste of the special atmosphere of Kerem B’Yavneh.
As we begin the new year, we ask you to please continue to support our important work, and we thank you for your past contributions to our dear yeshiva.
On behalf of the entire yeshiva staff, we wish you and your families a ketiva vechatima tova. May your home be filled with light, joy, health, and nachat from your children.
